Healthy soil is health for all. We do not impose a design on land — we read it first. Soil texture, compaction depth, water movement, existing vegetation, aspect, slope. That observation period usually takes longer than clients expect, and it's the reason the earthworks that follow actually hold instead of eroding out after the first heavy rain.
Practical work includes soil restoration through cover cropping and mulching, erosion control using keyline and swale earthworks that slow and spread water across a slope, veld and grazing management, and clearing invasive species (wattle, pine, gum) in a way that funds itself — the cleared timber gets used, not burned. Restoring indigenous forest within the Garden Route's wildlife corridors is a standing part of this work, not a side project.
Reforestation runs through the Precious Tree Project, a Garden Route nonprofit that has planted 50,000+ endemic trees using bio-mimicked techniques while creating local jobs. Sponsorship and volunteer planting days are open to property owners who want to be part of that directly. Cleared invasive biomass that isn't milled for timber is converted into biochar and worked back into the soil — the same carbon a burn pile would release becomes a permanent amendment that holds water and feeds soil life.
