Shamboh is a solutions-based company. We design and engineer the best possible solution for your site — not an off-the-shelf package.
We build with materials available on or near the site — rammed earth, compressed earth block, stone, timber from managed plantations. Local materials have known thermal performance, weather predictably in this climate, and can be repaired by the people who live there without importing specialist parts.
Build methods include post-and-beam timber frame, light straw clay infill, and stone and concrete combined for foundation and thermal mass. A recurring thread through the work is invasive timber — wattle, pine, gum cleared during land restoration — reused as structural and finish material instead of trucked off-site. It ties construction back to the land pillar rather than treating them as separate projects.
Full turnkey builds run through Natural Design, an owner-operated timber construction firm based in Hoekwil, Wilderness, specialising in this kind of hybrid natural build. For active building projects, get in touch directly through naturaldesign.co.za.
